from exile.ru:
are things turning around under putin or what?! a kick-ass indie band is
showing up here only slightly after their popularity peaked in the civilized
world. mogwai hail from scotland and for the better part of the last decade
they've been bringing loud, droning sonic youth-rock to the kids. this is
the first concert we've been excited about all year. you might want to be
high when you see them. we, uh, don't condone it, but we understand it.
barry burns, quoted in an article on the toronto star website:
it was insane. it was f---in' mental. i can't even describe it. it's just so unique — it doesn't look like anywhere else i've ever been. folk were going mad. i don't think they get many bands there still, so they turned out in droves. i think the place we played was meant to hold 400 people and 780 people came. it was very sweaty. there was a serious chance of death, but it never happened.
