supporting scud mountain boys and eska
from graham burgess:
i went to the powerhaus in finsbury park to see "nu country" sub pop outfit scud mountain boys (i'd heard them on peel, of course). i got there early cos i didn't have a ticket and, as the band had been made a fuss of in the nme etc, i thought it might be busy. getting there early meant that, unusually, i saw the support. the support was mogwai. i thought they sounded like "seamonsters"-era wedding present covering big country's "restless natives" soundtrack (i didn't know then that mogwai were scottish, honest!) which to me was two very, very good things indeed. i asked my local fab gear emporium to get me the "summer" 7" when it came out and played it to death when it arrived.
