encore: thanks james support from women
from james smith: salt lake city was a bit cold, even for a city in the mountains during spring. the band came out in jackets or long sleeves. i couldn't tell from the balcony if the turnout was decent or not. either way the band put their all in to it and pulled off a great performance. i didn't notice too much chatter other than the token guy who should've stopped three beers and two cocktails before. most of the set list consisted of songs from the last three albums, with the exception of small children, 2 rights and herod. small children was a welcome surprise. i watched from the balcony facing the front of the stage. it was a great view of the band (and a great view of the girls jumping when the loud part of herod kicks in. i never tire of that). the set started off with a mellower assortment of their songs. barry didn't leave his position behind the keys until the 11th song. this made the climax of herod and batcat that much more powerful. batcat was extremely loud and intense. amazing song live. worked up the crowd quite a bit. great show. this is my third time seeing them and they haven't disappointed.
