from gael:
so i'm there in this great venue, "le bataclan", and it's sold out (so about 1500 people). support was by the magnificients, a lot of energy in their set, not really what i like, but the audience mostly liked them.
and here they are, with their green adidas jackets, but only for the first song, then stuart reveals a quite old batman t-shirt and he seems to appreciate french red wine, with a bottle and a glass on stage. the show begins with 'autorock', with stuart playing on a fender bass vi, i've never seen him play on it before. some minor technical issues, stuart said that in america or in uk, when they have technical issues, he usually tells a joke, but not when they are in a country with a foreign language, because we will not get it. he tried one, and nobody got it. the rest of the band forced a little smile, so i supposed it was not a very funny one.
the sound was great, very powerful and so was the set, i think that since the "café de la danse" incident, they play more "loud" songs in paris as a revenge. 'ithica' was apocalyptic, as was 'glasgow megasnake', 'ratts of the capital'. 'helicon 1' made me shiver.
i first saw mogwai live on april 98, when they were just four and stuart had hair. now they are six, and each time i go to a mogwai show thinking that they can't do better than the last time. they can.
