since mogwai are rare guests in switzerland, and they were performing in basel for the first time, there were many people who have never seen a mogwai gig before. most of them were amazed afterwards. mogwai showed all their strengths, uniting very subtle and sensual passages with infernal guitar-walls. in the rather quiet beginning they seemed a bit irritated by the amount of chatting people in the back of the hall, but their answer was a noisy, tight and concise second half. light tuning was stunning too. however, my favourite was the sparsely arranged version of happiness. smashing! but all of this still didn't make john get up from his bloody chair only for once:-)
